1 A lot of people were now becoming followers of YAHUSHA. But some of the ones who spoke Greek started to grumble about the ones who spoke Hebrew, saying that the Greek-speaking widows were not given their share of food when the supplies were handed out each day. 2 So YAHUSHA'S twelve Disciples called the whole group of followers together and said, “It's not a good idea for us to leave Alahim's Word (STUDYING & PREACHING) in order to SERVE at tables (DEALING WITH THE FOOD & MONEY). 3 My friends, choose seven men who are respected and wise and filled with YAHUSHA'S Spirit, and we'll put them in charge of organising these things, so that no one will be left out. 4 Then we can spend our time in prayer and to continually SERVE YAHUSHA by studying and preaching.”
5 This suggestion pleased everyone, and they began by choosing Stephen. He had great belief and was filled with the Set-Apart Spirit. Then they chose Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and also Nicolaus, who had worshiped with the Jewish people in Antioch. 6 These men were brought to the twelve, who prayed and placed their hands on the men to show that they had been chosen to do this work. 7 And YAHUSHA'S message spread, and many more people in Jerusalem became followers. Even a large number of the Priests put their trust in YAHUSHA.
THE BOOK OF NUMBERS RECORDS WHAT A TERRIBLE SIN GRUMBLING, MURMURING & COMPLAINING IS IN THE EARS OF YAHUAH ... HE ABSOLUTELY HATES IT!! IN THE WILDERNESS, THE HEBREWS GRUMBLED ABOUT THE FOOD, THE WAY, THE GIANTS, THE MANNA, THE DESERT, THEIR LEADERS, AND THEN ABOUT THE DIVINE JUDGMENTS THAT CAME ON THEM (FOR ALL THE FORMER GRUMBLINGS) ... AND NOW THAT SAME UNGRATEFUL, WRONG BEHAVIOUR WAS CREEPING INTO THE EARLY ASSEMBLY.
8 And Stephen, filled with belief and power, did great wonders and signs among the people. 9 But some of those of the so-called Congregation of the Freedmen (Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and those from Cilicia and Asia), rose up and argued with Stephen, 10 but they were unable to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke. 11 Then they instigated men to say, “We have heard him speak wicked, blasphemous words against Moses and our Alahim.” 12 And they stirred up the people, and the Elders, and the Scribes, so they all came upon him, seized him, and brought him to the Council.
13 And they set up false witnesses who said, “This man won't stop speaking blasphemous words against this set-apart place and the Divine Instructions of Moses, 14 for we've heard him saying that this YAHUSHA of Nazareth will overthrow this Temple and change the instructions which Moses personally gave to us.”
15 And all who sat in the Council, looking steadily at Stephen, saw that his face was shining like the face of a Heavenly Angel.
