1 Greetings from James, a servant of Alahim and of the Master YAHUSHA MESSIAH, to the 12 Tribes who have been scattered all over the world.
2 My brothers and sisters, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the proving of your belief works endurance in you. 4 So let endurance have its perfect work in you … yes, when your trust is tested, you learn to be patient and stand on the Word of truth, so that you be perfect (mature) and complete, lacking nothing. You will become all that YAHUSHA wants you to be.
5 Do any of you need wisdom? Ask YAHUSHA for it. He is generous and enjoys giving to everyone. So He will give you wisdom. 6 But when you ask YAHUSHA, you must believe. Don’t doubt Him. For whoever doubts is like a wave in the sea that is blown up and down by the wind. 7-8 People like that are thinking two different things at the same time (double-minded), and they can never decide what to do. So if you’re going to be unstable like this, don’t think you’ll will receive anything from the Master.
9 When a lowly brother or sister is exalted by YAHUSHA, let them rejoice and boast in that, just as when a rich one is humbled by YAHUSHA, for their riches won’t keep them from disappearing as quickly as wildflowers. 11 As the sun rises and gets hotter, its heat dries up the plants, and the flowers fall off. The flowers that were so beautiful are now dead. That’s how it is with the rich, while they are still making plans for their wealth, they will die.
12 Great blessings belong to those who endure all trials, for when they have been proved by YAHUSHA, they will receive the crown of eternal life that He’s promised to all those who love Him. 13 Whenever you feel tempted to do something wrong, you should never say “YAHUSHA is tempting me.” For evil cannot entice YAHUSHA, so He Himself never tempts anyone. 14 NO! You are tempted and drawn away by fleshly desires and all the things you want … that trap you! 15 Your desire is conceived within you and grows inside until it gives birth to sin. Then when you go and behave the sin, it ends in death.
16 My dear brothers and sisters, don’t be fooled about this. 17 Everything good comes from YAHUSHA. Every perfect gift is from Him. These good gifts come down from the Father who made all the lights in the sky. But YAHUSHA never changes, just like the shadows from those very lights. He’s always the same. 18 YAHUSHA purposed to give us life through the true Word of truth that He sent to us, allowing us to become a kind of first-fruit of His New Creation.
19 So always be quick and willing to listen and slower to speak. Always keep control of your anger. 20 For anger doesn’t help you live and behave the way YAHUSHA wants. 21 So get rid of everything evil in your lives—everything that’s filthy and wrong. Be humble and accept YAHUSHA’S implanted Word that is truly able to deliver you.
22 Be someone who behaves YAHUSHA’S Words, not just one who hears them and ignores! When you only sit and listen, you’re fooling yourselves. 23 Hearing/reading YAHUSHA’S Words and doing nothing is like looking at your face in the mirror 24 then walking away and immediately forgetting what you look like. 25 But when you look into YAHUSHA’S perfect law and instructions that sets His people free, and actively behave it, (not just a hearer that quickly forgets but a doer of the Word), you will have YAHUSHA’S blessings for living this way.
26 You might think you’re clean and righteous, but if your tongue is out of control, you’re fooling yourself mate. Your careless, idle talk makes your offerings (good behaviours) to YAHUSHA worthless. 27 The clean (undefiled) righteousness that YAHUSHA wants is this: caring for orphans or widows who need help and keeping yourself free and unstained from the world’s evil influence.
